The Story of Viand:

Far and deep into the void of space, a great famine is occurring, children die, mothers weep, and fathers fail to feed their families. You are an individual who has lived their life in hunger and pain. Your unfamiliar appearance has always distanced others from you leading you to grow detached from your society. Even with you having friends in the present day,  you can't help but stay emotionally distant, as to you they are only a means to an end. To what lengths are you willing to go to survive the world of Viand?

The Guide of Viand:

You must clear several waves of enemies along your journey. Be careful, something is happening but you can't put your finger on it. You may look toward the goal at hand, but can you even trust yourself?! The blood stained stars and the figure lingering in the corner of you eye says otherwise.

The Developer of Viand:

  • Hello, my name is Dylan Griffey otherwise known as SchnazzyMosquito. I am an ambitious student who enjoys developing his knowledge in the field of Computer Science. Sometimes my ambitions get the better of me, causing me to develop an ego. I am working on this issue with my ego and will hopefully grow past it by the release of my next project.
  • Though I enjoy developing video games I myself am not a gamer. While I do enjoy playing video games when I do, I often choose to do other tasks such as study, watch TV, or work on more personal projects such as this one.
  • I hope you enjoy my game, it was fun working on a project I was passionate about.

The Inspiration and Truth of Viand:

  • Perfect Vermin (ItsTheTalia):
    • This game inspired my idea for the Horror of my Shmup (the fleshy aesthetic), try it out.
  • Fight Club *SPOILERS*:
    • This movie helped my conceptualize the plot twist of my game. For those who don't understand, the purple ship and the green bug are the same person (person in loose terms). You play the game killing and cannibalizing your friends dissociating yourself on who your identity truly is. At the end of the game (post wave 10) you snap out of it and start coming to terms with what you have done, with the final boss being your inner monster and the final wave (wave 14) consisting of you (to put it lightly) removing yourself from the gene pool out of insanity.
    • The movie Fight Club has a similar plot twist (without the cannibalism and such) where the main character realizes they are the leader of a terrorist organisation, but that is as far as I will go, watch the movie.
  • Galaga:
    • The only real game of this genre that I grew up playing.
  • Mr. Rob (Career Center Educator):
    • Average Class Period With Mr. Rob (So Inspiring):

The Disclaimer of Viand:

This game is a psychological horror, please note this means the game has Flashing lights, Flickering, and Pixilated Gore.  I am not an Edgelord, just a nerd who went all in on a concept.

The Competition Peers of Viand:

Spacetime Continuum (BTG):

  • This game is well developed, and while it is very difficult, it is fun and intuitive. The game breaths style in its fantastic theme created by the developer them self. The game is difficult in its constant usage of mini-bosses which make surviving the later waves a struggle. If you are looking for a challenge that boasts originality then please check out Spacetime Continuum! - 9/10 Viands

Cheddar Chowdown (The Observant):

  • This game is made by a good friend of mine. It has an amazing style and has plenty of originality, but it is insanely difficult. The game can be downright unfair so it isn't very accommodating. If you are a God amongst men and have mental illness then I recommend Cheddar Chowdown. And It's Viand BTW!  - 6/10 Viands (adjusted to IGN ratings)

This game was very fun. The farthest I've gotten so far is wave 10 (which I'm assuming is right before the boss). It definitely proves to be challenging, but not in a bad way. I like the theme a lot; it definitely stands out.  This project obviously consisted of a lot of effort, inspiration and creativity. GG (which means good game, not "get gud" like what Ethan says)
